Bras for a Cause Review by L’Armoire de Lana

I was not able to attend the Bras for a Cause fundraising event and competition last week. However, I felt the need to share it with you guys because of my immense support for One Wig Stand, one of the organizers. Here’s the first paragraph of my favorite review of the event by my good friend and fashion blogger Lana El Sahely. Make sure you check out her blog, L’armoire de Lana, if you’re a fashion person, it’s a must-read and if you’re not, you’ll learn a thing or two about that world!
Bras for a Cause aims to raise awareness about breast health and help women who have had breast cancer in a very creative campaign. In fact, for many breast cancer survivors, wearing the right bras and prostheses can really help improving the healing process; whether on an emotional or a physical level. Furthermore, women who had to go through surgery to heal have seen an alternation in their appearance. Thus, most of them don’t always find the right bra or can’t afford it, especially in our region of the world.

My championing of Android systems and Nokia devices might lead some to believe I am not an Apple fan. On the contrary, I am a massive Apple fan. I own a MacBook, a MacBook Pro, an iPad and 4 iPods. My sister owns an iPod and a MacBook and my Dad runs a MacBook Pro. The only Apple device that never clicked with me, was the iPhone.
Other than that, Apple and Steve Jobs have had an effect on my everyday life for well over 7 years now. I spend hours on their devices everyday. This blog is written and designed on Apple products. My iPad is my main gaming and web browsing platform. I got a free iPod with my car.
This morning’s news was disheartening, but not unexpected. It’s sad that prodigal designers and inventors like Steve, who have reshaped our world and how we interact with each other, should die at such a young age with so much potential yet untapped. Steve is already missed, and perhaps the most obvious indication of how much respect and admiration this man had, were the messages from his main competitors like Google, Nokia and even Microsoft, whose chiefs have all paid tribute to technology’s most valuable man.
President Obama and Mark Zuckerberg were also some of the first to express their grief, with Obama’s stating that “perhaps the best testament to this man’s legacy, is that almost everyone found out about his passing on devices he created”
Twitter keeps failing, over-capacity with the top 3 trending topics being RIP Steve Jobs, #ThankYouSteve and #iSad. The 56-year-old icon whose company was at times wealthier than the mighty US government, leaves behind massive shoes to fill in the innovation and creative department. It is his footsteps though, that’ll guide both Apple and its competitors going forward now that he is gone. And to that, I say #ThankYouSteve for everything, and that indeed #iSad this morning.
There is no doubt that the pancreatic cancer patient we all waited for every Apple event has had a profound effect on us and his legacy and brand, Apple, will keep influencing the whole of humanity for generations to come.
It might be good to remember that Steve wasn’t just the Apple man though, he was also the chief of Pixar Animation, the company that brought us so many heart-warming animated movie. He’s also a college dropout and biologically Syrian.
My favorite quote from Twitter: “Apples have changed the world. One seduced Eve, another fell on Newton’s head and the third was bitten by Steve Jobs” Too true.
