MA2TOO3A! Brilliant, But Also Depressing

Mohamad Taha is a genius. The kinds of apps we need in Lebanon aren’t always where to go, what to eat and which event is going down where… We need apps that can tell us whether that road is open, whether we can get there and back alive and safe and of course where we might get kidnapped. He has created just that, a small, neat app which shows you on the map, realtime, what’s going down in this tiny, broken country.

This application allows you to know where tire burning, protests, or armed combat is happening at any time! It even shows you a traffic jam as it happens! Any user can update all others instantly about such an event, including the exact time and location.Whenever an event is put to an end, a red rose will appear :)

It’s super useful, especially if you’re like me, driving all over the place and frequent places where clashes and blockages occur regularly, like the Airport Road. But it’s also severely depressing the need for such an app exists… Regardless, for the sake of being pragmatic and safe, this app would be an awesome addition to your iOS devices (and even comes with push-notifications to keep you up to the minute on the chaos unfolding). I have it on my iPod and iPad and hope the dev is planning to release an Android version soon.

Here are some screenshots I pulled off the App Store where you can download the free 1.0MB app.

FASHAL – Hyunai Niyelak [Reposted After Threats and Insults]

So, we all found this funny, right? I mean, the dude used the Hyundai cheesy slogan on his own Hyundai. For some reason, the macho-man Lebanese attitude led him to “challenge” me and post his number on the blog and threatened that if I didn’t remove it, he’d make “my face hilarious”.

So, out of respect to his backwards and stupid opinion, I removed the photo as maybe he might be embarrassed by it. Unfortunately, it turns out he’s more closed-minded and rude than I had expected, and proceeded to spam other posts with comments like this:

That is why, the photo is back up again =D Perhaps next time he’ll learn to be more polite without the threats and insults. After all, this is something on a car, visible to anyone, and last time I checked taking photos of cars didn’t need permission and wasn’t illegal.
