So, this is NOT a referendum on what you believe is right or think on homosexuality according to your religion/upbringing/etc. This is a simple yes or no question on whether or not it should be illegal to be homosexual in Lebanon.
Gay and Lesbian people undergo regular harassment, humiliation and even torture from none other than the government itself, an entity that is supposed to protect individual rights and protect you from harm, not infringe upon your unalienable rights and cause you severe physical and psychological harm.
This does not mean that you believe homosexuals should be able to marry/adopt children. Anyways, remember: personal status laws in Lebanon are governed by ancient, medieval religious courts, not the government. This just means that the government shouldn’t jail, fine and torture you if you like someone from the same sex and are open about it.

I believe that homosexuality should never be illegalized in Lebanon because that is personal freedom and the government has no business in meddling with a person’s personal choices or preferences. However, I also believe that homosexual marriage in Lebanon should never ever be legalized. Marriage is a public affair mediated by the government and therefore banning gay marriage would not be an infringement on personal freedom.
Actually Daniel, the govt has no say in marriage in Lebanon (unfortunately). It’s completely up to religious courts and authorities. So, whether homosexuality is legal or not according to the constitution, will have no effect on marriage.
Banning gay marriage is deciding (on the behalf of everyone) that marriage should be exclusively between people from opposite sexes. The only place where this is mentioned is religious scripts, and far as i know Lebanon is not a “Religious” country like Saudi Arabia for example. So why would you want to ban gay marriage ?
