I remember growing up as a teenager in Lebanon, a string of random bombings and targeted assassinations rocked Beirut and its Northern suburbs every other week or so for around 3 years. Today, the bombings are back, even though they might have changed in style and purpose. However, the “collateral damage” is still there, and even worse than before. With over hundreds killed and thousands injured, the overwhelming majority are innocent passerby, and most buildings are residential and commercial ones owned by ordinary folks like you and me.
Usually, when a bombing causes a said number of injuries, over 90% on average are cuts from flying shards of glass or other minor injuries that often need no hospital or are in and out of the ER in less than two hours. So, the 3M safety and security film for glass windows and doors ads are back, and it’s an ominous reminder of the hell that is living in constant fear of the next bombing, and the precautions available, and even marketed, to bolster the “safety of your loved ones…”
Chin up Beirut, and stay safe.
